Meet our new Ambassador!

We are delighted to have Cheryl Koenig OAM as our SSCSS Ambassador.  Cheryl is a local carer, author, speaker and advocate for people with disabiility and their carers.

You can read her inspiring story in her book,  Paper Cranes:  A Mother's Story of Hope, Courage and Determination.

Cheryl has also written other books containing the stories of carers and people living with brain injuries, including The Courage to Care  and There's Always Hope, Just Alter the Dreams which she wrote for the NSW Health Brain Injury Rehabilitation Directorate.

Cheryl has had a long association with Sutherland Shire Carer Support Service.  She has worked tirelessly, raising many thousands of dollars for brain injury services, and has been an Australia Day Ambassador and Ambassador for the Bang on a Beanie brain injury awareness campaign.  Cheryl sits on a number of committees as a carer representative and advocate.

In 2009, Cheryl was awarded NSW Woman of the Year.  On Australia Day 2014, she was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to people with disabilities, their families and carers.

In April 2014, the Management Committee and staff of SSCSS welcomed Cheryl as Ambassador of Sutherland Shire Carer Support Service at a special morning tea.
